“The Batman” officially rated PG-13 for violence and disturbing content

Robert Pattinson’s debut as Batman has officially been rated PG-13.

Those who were hoping to see Nirvana-inspired Matt Reeves The Caped Crusader receive an R rating, we’re sorry to say they don’t. FilmRatings.com confirms that The batman received a PG-13 rating. Don’t worry, though, as it looks like the DC movie might be pushing the boundaries of what a PG-13 movie can do.

The batman received a PG-13 rating for “very violent and disturbing content, drug content, bad language and suggestive material”. So far, the trailers have highlighted just how unbalanced and angry Robert Pattinson’s Batman is, so it’s no surprise that the film draws a lot of violence. What does the disturbing content of the film involve? Only the weather though. The promo footage seen so far has done a great job of highlighting just how gothic and seedy the new version of Gotham is, so it’s no surprise that there are some disturbing events going on in the belly of the city.

While it may be disappointing that the film did not receive an R rating as many hoped, it still seems The batman will be a mature version of the DC hero that will also allow young audiences to participate in the film event.

Here is the summary of The batman:

“Two years roaming the streets as Batman (Robert Pattinson), sowing fear in the hearts of criminals, led Bruce Wayne to the deepest shadow of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies – Alfred Pennyworth ( Andy Serkis), Lieutenant James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) – among the corrupt network of officials and prominent figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance among his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the world’s greatest sleuth on an investigation into the underworld, where he meets characters such as Selina Kyle / aka Catwoman. (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot / aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro) and Edward Nashton / aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to draw closer and the scale of the author’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and do justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The batman stars Robert Pattinson as titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.
