Stoker places second overall at FDU Invitational

MENDAHM, New Jersey – The University of New Jersey City men’s golf team returned to the course today, Monday, September 20, for their second tournament of the fall 2021 season. As a team, the NJCU placed sixth at the FDU Fall Invitational, organized by FDU-Florham at the Mendham Golf & Tennis Club, a par 72 course of 6,514 yards. Individually, first year student Evan Stoker (Clinton, NJ / Voorhees) Once again, he led the way as the Gothic Knights’ top player and came second overall out of 43 golfers.

Stoker finished the day with an over-six round of 78 throughout the 18-hole tournament and was one of three golfers to end the day with scores in the Under-80s. Second year Taj Piontkowski (Califon, NJ / Voorhees) was NJCU’s second-best finisher as he tied for 15th with a round of 88. Rookie Ben Herrick (Sayreville, NJ / Sayreville War Memorial) Also shot in double digits that day and tied for 31st with a round of 99. Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, NJ / Bergen Community College) (103) and Paul Tannucilli (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) (106) also competed for the Gothic Knights that day.

NJCU is back in action in a few days for the Golden Oaks Shootout on Friday and Saturday, September 24 and 25, hosted by Arcadia University in Fleetwood, Pa., At the Golden Oaks Golf Club.
