Welcome to my website! Here you will find info about my research, teaching and science popularization activities.

The huge biodiversity of the tropics may be seen as a network composed of millions of species and their interactions. Mutualistic interactions play a crucial role in this web of life. Seed dispersal and pollination are especially important, as most tropical plants depend on animals at different stages of their reproductive cycle. In my current research, I investigate the complexity of these interactions using different tools, from field experiments to network models. Some patterns and processes are very pervasive and may be observed in totally different systems, from food webs to the internet. This way I aim to understand in a broad context how mutualisms generate and maintain crucial ecosystem services. Bats and their food-plants have been my main study model.
