Approved for establishment on July 12, 2001, Xifo Church in Tai’an County, Liaoning Province was originally a place of family activities. In August 1999, four bungalows were purchased to serve as places of activities at the church.

In August 2004, it was rebuilt on the same site. The new church covers an area of 1,125 square meters with an area of 485 square meters. The exterior of the church has a Gothic architectural style. Inside the church there are tables, chairs, sound equipment, air conditioning and other facilities, and a cross hangs in front of the main hall.

On the left and right sides of the church are offices, libraries, etc. The main hall can accommodate over 500 people for worship and other activities. Currently there are four preachers and around 350 believers, which is quite extensive in the local village.

Sister Li Jing believed on the Lord in 1989. Since then, she has regarded God’s family matters as major events and has taken it upon herself to feed believers. She also gave her only daughter to the Lord.

Her daughter was an excellent student in Tai’an High School, but when taking the college entrance exam, she told her mother that God had called her. Enlightened by revelation from God, Li helped her daughter attend seminary and become a full-time preacher after graduation. Today, she is the pastor of a church in the city of Anshan.

Xifo Church has become the main place of Christian faith in the city of Xifo. After the earthquakes in Wenchuan, Sichuan and Yushu, Qinghai, the congregation donated 4,000 yuan to the disaster areas. They visit poor households and nursing homes during the Spring Festival and other festivals, with a donation that has reached over 3,000 yuan.

According to Tai’an Ethnic and Religious Archives released by Tai’an County Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau in 2017, among believers in Xifo Church, there are 11 large households with more than 100 mu (16.47 acres) of land, 18 professional households with more than three greenhouses of vegetables, and nine specialized households with more than 50,000 yuan of annual income in the clothing trade. Twelve large pig farmers receive an annual production of more than 10,000 pigs per year and the other 12 large households raise more than 10,000 chickens per year.

Hollywood hunk Alan Taylor is officially the son of AMC’s series adaptation of Interview with the vampire. Taylor is the Emmy-winning director behind Thor: The Dark World, as well as episodes of Mad Men and The Sopranos.

Interview with the vampire is a highly regarded Gothic horror property that dates back to Anne Rice’s 1976 novel. It has since spawned a host of books, two films, a stage performance, and other miscellaneous adaptations. Now Interview with the vampire is back for a full-scale AMC series to be produced in part by Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice.

Variety pays off that Alan Taylor has officially signed on to direct the first two episodes of the upcoming eight-episode series. He will also join the Rice Clan as an executive producer on the first season of Gothic Romance. Taylor won an Emmy for his work on HBO’s final season The Sopranos.

AMC seems particularly satisfied with the rental. Dan McDermott, President of AMC Original Programming had this to share:

We’re putting together a real crew of dream talent on ‘Interview with the Vampire’, from Rolin Jones to Mark Johnson and now with the addition of Alan, a director with a job that could fundamentally break IMDb, not to mention the extraordinary. of Anne Rice stories and characters that captivated so many millions of fans around the world. We’re so excited to be where we are on this show, and there’s so much more to come.

Lost – Tong Castle.

Many years of research have paid off for Gareth Williams with his massive 750 page tome “The Country Houses of Shropshire”.

And it’s a subject he’s had a lot of close experience with, being a curator and learning officer at the Weston Park Foundation. Indeed, his next project is a book on Weston Park, historically the ancestral seat of the Earls of Bradford on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.

For generations these grand houses have been the abodes of some of Shropshire’s foremost families, and still are in some cases, but sadly changing times have also seen many architectural and historical treasures lost.

The Country Houses of Shropshire by Gareth Williams.

“Although pressures remain, the Shropshire country house has experienced, as elsewhere, if not a complete rebirth, then a sort of respite aided by a better, if not totally sympathetic, understanding of what a house is. campaign and its economic and cultural contribution, ”Gareth says.

So we asked him to pick from the five worst casualties in the county and pick his five favorite survivors.

Lost – Adderley Hall.

Gareth says: “An important Victorian house of George Devey, the grounds of which still cause the road from Market Drayton to Audlem to make a wide diversion around the site of the house.

“His loss, like so many lost homes, raises many questions – including whether an astonishing French-style garden, depicted in a painting now in the Virginia Museum of Art, in the United States, was really filled with sculpture. classic. “

Lost – Badger Hall.

“An old Georgian house that was given a series of suave neoclassical interiors by architect James Wyatt for the owner of the Old Park Ironworks in Shropshire, Isaac Hawkins Brown. Badger, at the end of the 19th century, contained the one of the most remarkable collections of Renaissance Art collected by the Cheney brothers.

“If it had survived intact it would have been one of Britain’s most important treasures.”

Destiny: Demolished 1952-53.

Lost – Cloverley Hall.

“Designed by William Eden Nesfield, the perfect and confident 1860s country house of the highest quality, with stone carvings by James Forsyth, stained glass by Heaton, Butler & Bayne and decorative paintings by Albert Moore.

“Cloverley’s design, which appeared in CL Eastlake’s History of the Gothic Revival (1872) made him extremely influential, with buildings in America inspired by its form and detail.”

Destiny: Main block demolished in 1926.

Lost – Park Hall, Oswestry.

“Lost in a fire in 1918, but a truly stunning late 16th century half-timbered house that has retained a series of original interiors, with woodwork and plasterwork and a very good oak staircase.

“The loss of the house at the turn of the 20th century meant that it was largely forgotten.”

Destiny: Accidentally set on fire while occupied by the army on Boxing Day 1918.

“Probably the most visited Capability Brown park in Britain, as the M54 motorway rumbles straight on the site of the house!

Tong Castle was a true medieval castle, reimagined as a Tudor mansion, and then in the 1760s remodeled and domed roofed by Capability Brown, while interiors dripped with rococo plaster of the highest quality.”

Destiny: lay in ruins for decades, then purposely exploded on July 18, 1954.

“Like a Jewel” – Longner Hall near Shrewsbury.

“A jewel-like Tudor Gothic house of the Prince Regent’s favorite architect, John Nash, which has retained its original interiors and is situated above the River Severn in a beautiful park designed by Humphry Repton.”

Millichope Park – “a tour de force”.

“A tour de force of Greek Revival architecture by Shrewsbury’s own architect Edward Haycock the Elder, which perfectly showcases the use of Grinshill stone, and is set in one of the most landscaped gardens. picturesque still under development by its current owners. “

“Outstanding” Mawley Hall near Cleobury Mortimer.

“The most exceptional Georgian baroque house from the start; the perfect dollhouse on the outside, but with one of the most beautiful interiors in the world – a magical demonstration of excellence in plaster, woodcarving and marquetry, which is used to show heraldry and Catholic faith of the Blount family who built it. “

“Illustrious Ancestor” – Loton Park.

“An attractive Janus-type house with a cheerful Tudor style south facade and a serious Georgian Baroque north facade, which upholds the illustrious ancestry of the Leighton family who are still the guardians of this great Shropshire house.”

Whitton Hall – “The Perfect Gable Mansion.” Photo: Richard Law.

“The perfect gabled mansion, with magnificent Georgian facades and interiors, fully preserved and set in a lovely garden with a plump round dovecote and a Jersey herd that enlivens the surrounding meadows.”

‘The Country Houses of Shropshire’ is published by The Boydell Press and signed copies at a reduced price of £ 85 (RRP £ 95) are available from Millard & Lancaster, 18 St Mary’s Street, Shrewsbury.

Transmitted by blood is both a blessing and a curse for the Dark souls series. In a way, it has attracted countless new players to the series who might never have tried it, without the PS4 exclusivity. On the other hand, the Dark souls games don’t live up to a lot of Transmitted by bloodthe best qualities. Of course, Dark souls can never escape comparisons to the gothic-cosmic horror masterpiece, as the games share many similarities (and, of course, the same developer).

With a new trailer and details on the highly anticipated Ancient ring emerging from this E3, it makes sense to reflect on the similarities and differences between the games that inspired it. Ancient ring looks like FromSoftware’s most ambitious title to date. This ambition is more evident in the way Ancient ring could make the most of FromSoftware’s previous titles, including Transmitted by blood. Fans are still clamoring for a sequel or remaster of the game to this day, showing how important it still is to fans of FromSoftware. However, many fans who prefer Transmitted by blood do so because of its many distinctive differences from the developer’s other games.

RELATED: 5 Soulslike Games That Look More Like Bloodborne Than Dark Souls

Dark Souls-like development of Bloodborne

One of the key comparisons often made between the first Dark souls and Transmitted by blood is the creative team that worked on it. In particular, Creative Director Hidetaka Miyazaki directed Transmitted by blood as well as the original Dark souls. This fact is often used to explain the troubled launch of Dark Souls 2. Miyazaki worked more closely on Transmitted by blood that in the second game of the Souls series, and the signature flair of Dark souls is apparent in Transmitted by blood too much.

Dark souls soared the Souls series to glory after the cult success of Demon souls, with its narrow, interconnected world and deeply complex narrative. Transmitted by blood took this formula, and reworked all the mechanics. While this might seem like a difference from the series at large, it actually emulated what Dark souls made to the tropes of the series. In the same way, Transmitted by blood moved the franchise to new heights, redefining some elements. Since then there have been countless games like Transmitted by blood. These games take faster gameplay and aggressiveness and make it a priority.

Thanks to the contribution of Miyazaki and others Dark souls developers, Transmitted by blood reflected the innovation of its predecessor and inspired so many other games to copy it. Soulsas games are incredibly popular these days, and a lot of them (like the next thymesis) seem to take more heavily Transmitted by blood than other FromSoftware titles. This commitment not to play it safe with design and to incorporate exciting new mechanics is exactly the philosophy of Dark Soul ‘development of s.

How Bloodborne Made ‘Soulsborne’ a Thing

Elden George RR Martin Ironie Ring

Thanks to Transmitted by blood, the game phrase Souls series “turned into” Soulsborne “. Souls series, but it was such a historic title that it changed the way the franchise is brought up in general discussions. Of course, for this series moniker to take off, the game needs to take over several elements from previous games. For example, Transmitted by blood ‘s the locations resemble other parts of the Souls series. The same level of difficulty and sometimes obtuse mechanics also appear in Transmitted by blood. The world also connects in complex ways, and it is these narrow, oppressive yet sprawling landscapes that characterize the Soulsborne series.

RELATED: Blood-borne Zones Inspired By Real-World Locations

Spawning “Passivity”: Bloodborne dodged the shield

a one-handed ax and a medium shield covered in spikes and chains

Interesting way, Transmitted by blooditem descriptions take pictures of the styles of Dark souls to play. Unlike the multitude of options in Dark Souls, the only shield available in Transmitted by blood is a shield made of wooden planks. The description of the object indicates that it can “engender passivity” in the player, which reflects both Transmitted by bloodis a drastically different style of play, and also pokes fun at a Dark souls game mode.

It is difficult to determine exactly the best starting class in Dark souls. However, many players find themselves choosing the “knight” when creating a character. This knight is adorned like the typical medieval warrior of the sword and the plank, and plays as such too. While wizards and clerics Dark souls launch magic grains and holy lightning across the map, knights usually get up close and glance at their shields whenever they attack.

According to Transmitted by blood, this is a really boring way to play the game. While the sword and shield can be a Dark souls Archetypal, online players will notice the abundance of tall, shirtless sword-bearers who roll and leap through PvP areas, often with only a small dagger to counter opponents. This is exactly the style of play that Transmitted by blood encourages.

The Bloodborne Parry Problem

Blood-borne character pointing a gun at the camera.

In addition to removing anything that looks like a shield in the game, Transmitted by blood rethought Dark soulparry mechanics, and made the game faster as a result. In the Souls series, players can parry with a specific shield or dagger in their secondary hand in a very narrow window. On the other hand, Transmitted by bloodThe parry method uses firearms. These guns offer a much larger parade window than Dark souls. A more accessible parry mechanism is absolutely necessary to Transmitted by blood, which claims a much more frenetic style of play. Thus, the different parry mechanics make Transmitted by blood play in a way quite distinct from its predecessors.

Themes, Glorious Themes

Much has been written about the oppressive nature of Dark souls and its mechanisms, and how it comments on the cyclical and perpetual nature of violence and empire. In particular, games like Dark Souls 2 make explicit comments on how the engines of imperialism have this ultimately self-defeating quality. The stunning corpse of King Vendrick is a perfect example of this, an eternally wandering agent of a collapsed empire who can do nothing but follow the fateful steps of his past.

Transmitted by blood takes a totally different approach to its themes. The game begins as this coiled gothic horror that deals with lycanthropy and disease, and how society crumbles under various pressures. As this plot unfolds, it reveals its true intentions: it is cosmic horror of the highest proportions. The inner dread of disease and infection at the start of the game pales in comparison to the grim horror of the unspeakably large entities that stalk the end of the game.

Another fascinating element is the game’s insight mechanic. Players can navigate the majority of the game without being aware of the implications of cosmic horror, and there are even multiple endings depending on the player’s interaction with cosmic entities. The fact that a player can go through a game that seems to focus on human psychology, nightmares, and trauma, and be totally oblivious to the greater cosmic threat underlying the game’s themes is fascinating. This undoubtedly demonstrates that Transmitted by blood is not only thematically different from Dark Souls, but portrays these themes in a much more complex narrative.

Cannes (France) (AFP)

French director Julia Ducournau, who won the first prize at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday for “Titanium”, developed a taste for creeping bodily transformations very early on thanks to her parents, both doctors.

Exploding into the limelight at only 34 years old with her first feature film “Raw”, Ducournau quickly established herself as a singular and daring filmmaker.

The coming-of-age story with a bloody twist, featuring a vegetarian teenager who finds out she loves human flesh and blood, brought critics to the brink of fainting when it was featured at the Cannes film festival 2016.

The impact of “Titanium,” about a young woman having sex in cars and killing carefree, was about the same, with critics shielding their eyes during several scenes.

Getting a horror film shortlisted for the top prize at Cannes was in itself a success, she told AFP during the festival’s first week.

“I have always wanted to bring genre cinema or extravagant films to mainstream festivals so that this part of French film production stops being ostracized,” she said.

“People need to understand that genre cinema is a way of talking about individual people and our deepest fears and desires in a deep, raw and direct way.”

The polished appearance of Ducournau, now 39, stands in stark contrast to the messy array of gore seen in his films.

The Paris-born daughter of a dermatologist father and a gynecologist mother, both cinephiles, suggests that her fascination with some of the most disturbing aspects of the human body runs deep.

“Even as a child, I heard my parents talk about medical subjects without taboos. It was their job. I liked to stick my nose in their books,” she said during the promotion of “Raw”.

Ducournau was visibly elated at the Cannes “Titanium” press conference when a reviewer compared her film to David Cronenberg’s “Crash” and David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet”.

She also cites Brian de Palma, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Na Hong-jin as influences.

When she was only six, she watched “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” in secret and, growing up, devoured Edgar Allan Poe’s spooky gothic stories.

Ducournau is a brilliant student, graduated with a double degree in French and English literature before studying screenwriting at the prestigious Femis film school in Paris.

His 2011 short film “Junior”, shortlisted for the Critics’ Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, already showed a taste for physical transformation.

“Genre cinema is an obvious choice for me to talk about the human body. The human body that changes and opens up,” she told Télérama magazine.

My old ventilation cupboard has a new water tank and there is no more room for my laundry. I need a solution that would seem appropriate on a Grade II listed Herefordshire farm. This building dates back to medieval times and each generation has contributed something to it. I also need a cupboard for the table linens downstairs. Ideas?

Ah, the joy of the cupboards. When it comes to renovating their home, some may dream of swimming pools, others may yearn for a home theater, tennis court, gym or wine cellar. What do I see in my wildest dreams, half hidden in a swirling mist and sparkling with golden light? No more cupboards. I’m running out of space, you see, and fast.

Currently, half of a kitchen cabinet in the country is dedicated to towels, tea towels and coasters. Another closet across the room is filled with tablecloths, place mats, cushions and sundry items
(an old film camera, a giant Christmas ball and a few margarita glasses). Upstairs, spare sheets, pillows and towels are crammed into our wardrobe, which itself is no bigger than a shoebox.

I would like to have a downstairs closet dedicated to kitchen linens, and some sort of upstairs situation that means I don’t have to fold folded sheets in an available nook or cranny. When it comes to household chores such as laundry and bed preparation, I think giving all associated items a proper house helps to experience these chores.
much nicer.

and gothic windows and a cave and a reflecting pool in my garden.)

So where can you find cabinets that will suit your Herefordshire farm? I don’t think you necessarily have to focus on finding something extremely ancient because, as you say, the ancient inhabitants added to the building (which means, I guess, its appearance is not totally uniform).

In addition, as you may have understood from reading this column, I am also
not a slave to the concept of period perfection. Still, you’ll want to find something full of character and charm.

Arcadia Antiques usually offers a wide and brilliant selection of linen cabinets in different shapes and sizes. I’m often drawn to cabinets with an original painted finish – I love the patina you usually find with the original paint, the wonderful chipping, and the varying color nuances and subtleties, with old wood stains that stand out.

Currently in stock at Arcadia is a beautiful 19th century English housekeeper cabinet with its original off-white paint. At almost 170cm wide, it would offer ample space for laundry and includes drawers as
as well as shelves inside.

For a lingerie on the ground floor, I also really like a limed or bleached oak finish, or even a pale pine. Buckinghamshire’s Pinefinders are currently selling a large c1910 pine dutch linen press with fantastic detailing and a really nice oversized cornice.

I tend to prefer pale painted or washed wood over mahogany in kitchens, dressing rooms, and laundry rooms, but upstairs I like the idea of a darker mahogany or oak cabinet for bed linen or clothing. Look just across the border in Herefordshire to the Tim Bowen antiques of Carmarthenshire. Bowen recently sold a small Georgian Welsh oak linen press with very charming Gothic shaped panel doors above three small fake drawers. It might be worth getting in touch with this dealer as they have had many similar cabinets in stock in the past.

If you think you want something a little smarter, you couldn’t go wrong with the classic, elegant and timeless look of a George III piece, such as a mahogany clothes press currently available through Lorfords in the Gloucestershire. I really like its inlaid oval panels.

Maybe we should be thinking outside the closet. Based in Hampshire, Elmgarden sells a 19th century Italian clothes press with bold black and ecru stripes (and gold highlights), painted circa 1900. There’s no doubt this is a striking piece. The graphic simplicity of its design, however, would make it suitable for a variety of interiors.

Finally, let’s trade Herefordshire for Paris. I like a wardrobe, which in my mind is similar to a wardrobe, and could work just as well as a linen closet. (A clothes press, I recently figured out, tends to be defined as having two sections, like a mini-closet on top of a dresser.) It’s easy to find a chic cabinet, but I like the versions. more modest. Pappilon from Hampshire sells a very elegant 19th century French provincial wardrobe with original ocher paint. The beauty is in its rustic simplicity.

One more idea: John Penderell Antiques in Northern Ireland stocks a bespoke oak cabinet with characterful 16th century doors. It’s not in the best shape – part of its back is missing – but the price is right. Love this mix of new and very old: could be just the thing for a medieval farmhouse with new additions.

New conservation plan for the Fremantle Arts Center https://www.casadosmorcegos.org/new-conservation-plan-for-the-fremantle-arts-center/ Thu, 15 Jul 2021 05:52:16 +0000 https://www.casadosmorcegos.org/new-conservation-plan-for-the-fremantle-arts-center/ A new Conservation Management Plan to guide the on-going maintenance and preservation of one of WA’s most intriguing heritage buildings has been adopted by Fremantle Council. A new Conservation Management Plan to guide the on-going maintenance and preservation of one of WA’s most intriguing heritage buildings has been adopted by Fremantle Council.

The Fremantle Arts Center was built using convict labor and opened in 1864 as the Convict Establishment Fremantle Lunatic Asylum and Invalid Depot.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

As part of its focus on asset management and the conservation of its heritage assets, the town of Fremantle hired a consultant heritage architect last year to prepare a new conservation management plan for the building.

Deputy Mayor Andrew Sullivan said the council’s finance, policy, operations and legislation committee accepted all of the plan’s 118 recommendations.

“As well as being one of the finest examples of Australian Gothic architecture in the state, the Fremantle Arts Center has an absolutely fascinating history,” said Cr Sullivan.

“Beginning its life in the 1860s as a lunatic asylum built by convicts, this evocative and imposing building also served as a US Navy submarine depot during World War II, a women’s home, technical university and museum.

“It was also the center of one of WA’s earliest heritage battles when threatened with demolition in the 1950s and 1960s.

“Today it is one of our most beloved treasures and one of Fremantle’s greatest attractions, with over 500,000 people visiting the building each year to enjoy the exhibitions, events, courses, coffee and gift shop.

“Regular conservation work has been carried out on the site over the past 50 years, with the last major conservation work being undertaken in 2016 with the replacement of part of the roof.

“Since then, smaller amounts of maintenance work have been done each year as part of the City’s building maintenance budget.

“Due to its age, exposed environment, variety of uses and construction work over its history, and the demands placed on the facility with continued public use, the building is now in need of extensive work. conservation.

“This new conservation management plan will not only help record the important history of the building, but also guide its conservation and ongoing management.”

The land for the Fremantle Arts Center is owned by the State through the Lands Department and vested in the Town of Fremantle by management order. The City is responsible for the site, its conservation and its day-to-day management.

Conservation works identified in the new management plan include repairs to the roof, walls, structure, layout, fixtures and surrounding infrastructure on the site. The estimated cost of all the identified work is $ 4.95 million.

Last night, the council’s FPOL committee voted to accept the plan and advance work recommended as part of the City’s long-term financial plan.

Place du Château d’Est is planning an expansion that would add approximately 30 new apartments to its senior residency campus on the East Side of Milwaukee.

The plan includes the reconfiguration and consolidation of existing areas within the Eastcastle complex, located at the intersection of East Bradford and North Downer avenues, to create space for the new units.

The proposed addition – called Lake Drive Estates – would be built in the Watertower building in Eastcastle. It would be the third apartment “neighborhood” on campus, which includes its historic building, an adjacent contemporary building, and the Lake Drive Estates. Eastcastle offers independent living, supported living, memory care and skilled nursing care.

The campus includes its original 1892 Victorian Gothic building, designed by renowned Milwaukee architects Henry Koch and Herman Esser. The proposed addition would reflect the “historic charm and distinctiveness” of Eastcastle while providing modern amenities, the organization said.

Plans call for 17 two-bedroom apartments, 13 one-bedroom apartments, a bar and lounge, a renovated fitness center and multi-use spaces. The units will be independent apartments, subject to charge.

Eastcastle Place said the expansion will allow the non-profit organization to continue its mission while remaining competitive at a time when the assisted living and elderly care industry faces significant challenges, including low government reimbursement rates, a severe labor shortage and an expanding patient population.

“This allows us to stay true to our mission and vision by taking a longer-term, holistic approach to planning for the future, continuing to provide exceptional care, facilities and services to seniors,” said L ‘organization.

The plan is to relocate and consolidate assisted living, memory care and specialty nursing care into one area of campus – the Bradford Terrace building. The first, second and third floors of Bradford Terrace would be renovated and designated for assisted living, while the fourth floor would become a “memory support district”.

The campus health center would be “the right size” and moved to the fifth floor of the terrace, with 20 approved beds.

Construction is expected to begin around March 2022 and last up to 18 months. LCS Development will manage the project.
