Olivier Rousteing, the creative director of fashion label Balmain, survived a terrible accident at home last year.

On Saturday, October 8, the French designer revealed that he was injured by a chimney explosion in his house, which left scars on his face and body.

“I finally feel ready to share this. I’ve been hiding it for too long and it’s time you knew it,” Rousteing wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo showing him sitting on a couch wearing a cast that covered his arms, hands and torso, as well as a bandage around his head. “Exactly a year ago, the fireplace inside my house exploded. I woke up the next morning at Saint Louis Hospital in Paris. incredible care for me. I cannot thank them enough. “

The designer continued: “I did everything to keep this story from as many people as possible and tried to keep it a secret too long with my teams and my friends. To be honest, I don’t really know why I had so ashamed, maybe this obsession with perfection for which fashion is known and my own insecurities. “

Rousteing said that in recovering he “worked day and night to forget and create all my collections, trying to make the world dream with my collections and at the same time hiding the scars with face masks, turtlenecks, long sleeves and even several rings on all my fingers through many interviews or photoshoots [sic]. And I really realized that the power of social media is to only reveal what you want to show! It kind of allows us to create our own special narrative that avoids what we don’t want to see or show: it’s our new world. “

“Now a year later, cured, happy and healthy,” he wrote. “I realize how truly blessed I am and thank GOD every day of my life.”

At the end of September, Rousteing made his first public appearance in nearly a year on the stage of the Balmain Prêt-à-porter Spring / Summer 2022 show during Paris Fashion Week.

“My last show was about the celebration of healing from pain,” he wrote, “and I thank all the models the productions my team the models my Balmain family my friends who came and not only supported my 10 years of Balmain but my rebirth. “

He continued, “Today I feel so free, so good and so lucky. I start a new chapter with a smile on my face and a heart full of gratitude. To the doctors and nurses of Saint Louis, and to all those who helped me during this long convalescence and kept my secret: a deep thank you. I love you. GOD BLESS YOU ALL and again never give up! There is always the sun after the storm. “

Many celebrities have expressed their support for Rousteing after his shocking public announcement of his ordeal.

“I’m so glad you’re safe,” commented a designer colleague Donatella Versace, by adding three prayer emojis and three red heart emojis.

Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana lima wrote: “Luckily you are doing well! What a scary time.” Her former colleague and supermodel colleague Lily aldridge commented: “I send so much love and thank you for sharing your story.”

Cardi B wrote: “God bless you”, while Kim kardashian commented: “I love you”.

DISCLAIMER: The title of the Netflix movie There is someone in your house describes only a scene or two. This is not a home invasion thriller, but rather a neoclassical slasher in which anxious teens – some of whom, in the neoclassical way, have sex with each other – try not to be the target. of a large knife brandished by a homicidal maniac. So it’s a bit of the ’80s and’ 90s, but certainly a product of the ’20s, a time when many attempts were made to revive the genre. Let’s see if it’s successful.

The essential: Cold opening: an addict in a college jacket returns home to an empty house. It’s the night of a big game and he takes a nap and wakes up to find the front door wide open and his missing truck. TITLE CARD: Do you think someone is inside their house? I bet someone is inside their house. He soon finds a breadcrumb trail of incriminating images leading to his parents’ dressing room. There is irrefutable photographic evidence there for all to see of him brutally hazing another football player, who happens to be gay. And that’s when a madman with a hoodie and a mask does some nasty things to the guy with a big ass dagger. Cut to: the football field, where Caleb (Burkely Duffield), the haze of the photos, rushes for a touchdown and looks up to see no one clapping, because everyone in this small Nebraska town has only got one. a video text of the now dead bully his face in it.

The incident leaves the entire student body at Osborne High, unless you’re one of the outcasts who laugh at toxic white men who play football and bully people who are different from them. These outcasts probably understand that the guy doesn’t deserve to die and are scared because a killer is on the loose at the same time as they are experiencing a sneering schadenfreude, because they are complicated people: Makani (Sydney Park) is the little one. new who recently moved from Hawaii. Darby (Jesse LaTourette) is the trans child. Zach (Dale Whibley) is the great rebel against the ruthlessly capitalist practices of his very wealthy father. And Alex (Asjha Cooper) and Rodrigo (Diego Josef), well, there just isn’t enough time in a 90 minute slasher movie to give them a rich inner life, but they seem likeable enough, and in plus, three kids didn’t group high school rejections do.

After the killer strikes again, the Buffy Scooby Breakfast Club Chopper Bunch Gang finds out they’re targeting students with secrets – which doesn’t bode well for Makani, as we are spending a reasonably significant amount of time with her, and learning. that she’s hiding something crappy from her past. Alex is convinced the killer is Ollie (Theodore Pellerin), the outcast outcast who gives him bad vibes – “Yeah, you all-black school shooter style icon,” she snips – but no one does. knows that he and Makani have secretly done a lot more than just kissing. No, that’s not his shit secret. But maybe what didn’t kill her made her strong enough not to be killed by the killer.

THERE IS SOMEONE IN YOUR HOUSE
Photos: NETFLIX

What movies will this remind you of? : There is someone in your house is largely the Scream/i know what you did last summer mold – which means it is also reminiscent of the (overrated) Fear street trilogy.

Performances to watch: Park anchors the film with a heartfelt, sympathetic performance that helps him avoid being an empty, blunt murder.

Memorable dialogue: Alex knows that she and her outcast comrades have to do what they have to do, even if they don’t want to: “Alright, let’s save this damn football team.” “

Gender and skin: The difference between 80s slasher sex and 20s slasher sex is that 20s slasher sex is a lot less free.

Our opinion : There is someone in your house mixes sarcastic satirical tones with political commentary and serious drama, and the result is uneven but reasonably enjoyable 96 minutes. The fact that a slasher movie almost makes us care about the welfare of its disposable characters – in this case, not quite disposable – the characters look like a little miracle. I mean, every last fool in Fear street could have been horribly brainless and my emometer would never have shaken.

Makani’s arc is far from deep, but seethes beneath the powerful idea that forgiveness is something we should embrace, that all humans have flaws and make mistakes, and maybe The killer’s actions are a metaphor for today’s ‘cancellation culture’, which offers no nuance, context, or deeper understanding for those whose mistakes are made public and result in the total or partial destruction of their life. (Eh – probably a stretch.) Or maybe it’s just fun watching a hooded menace dump a kid out of being the anonymous host of a grotesque white supremacist podcast. There is at least some modern societal contextual relevance to this film, which forgoes making cheeky, flashing cinematic references for smarter things – for example, a funny, crackling scene in which the trans character is told as her story of “inspiring” life will be the subject of everybody college application trials.

So the film actively tries to talk about things and is not a meta-celebration of itself and its genre – and therefore is new. At the same time, he adheres to many slasher tropes and leads to a boisterous conclusion in which the villain spends a lot of time talking when he should be killing, and isn’t that always the villain’s tragic and proud downfall? I shrug in the general sense of the ending, but the rest generates enough narrative pull to keep our interest. And for those of you who are here to kill, well, the murders are damn murderous, and even though they are not innovative – the knife meets the body; repeat – for people who want to kill, the movie is better than without kills at all.

Our call: Stream it. There is someone in your house is a better-than-average slasher, which sets it apart from the recent crop of Netflix horror releases. Consider our barely surpassed expectations.

SENDING emojis to the boss, working from bed, and even responding to LOO emails are all okay, office workers say.

A new survey of 1,000 UK employees revealed the changes we have made in our working lives since the start of the pandemic.

1

Our working habits have completely changed since the start of the pandemic – and many Britons feel happy to connect anywhere, including on public transportCredit: Getty

And most say they think it’s good to work anywhere – including coffee shops, on public transport, and even hiding under the duvet.

Working in pajamas at home is good, as is ordering a takeout from the office and listening to music anywhere, say respondents.

And more than six in 10 people – 61% – thought they were more efficient outside the office, the survey commissioned by Samsung for Business found.

In addition, more than half say that flexibility about where they can work has improved relationships with loved ones.

Joe Walsh, Head of Business Technology at Samsung, said, “Businesses of all shapes and sizes have fought for survival over the past 18 months when they were forced to work remotely, employers and employees alike. witnessing a radical shift towards a mobile workforce.

“There’s no question that technology is at the heart of this transformation.

“While mobile tools and technology may have been used on an experimental basis during the pandemic, the possibilities are now very real – many opting for this hybrid style to move forward, after seeing the benefits. “

The study also found that working from home has now become the norm for many and is considered manageable due to the use of technology.

Almost two-thirds said technology has helped them feel connected to their colleagues, no matter where they work.

Some 65 percent would not apply for a new job unless the employer offered mobile devices such as laptops or work phones to facilitate work on the go.

Just under a fifth revealed they would consider extending their vacation and working from there.

The results emerged after 67% of those polled by OnePoll said the traditional nine-to-five workday is over.

This isn’t the only change – almost half feel the dress code at work has loosened significantly.

And 38 percent said the way they communicate with colleagues and clients has also changed dramatically.

30 things UK workers say are okay now

1. Work from home
2. Start work early / finish work early
3. Work from home when you feel a little sick, but not enough to take a day off.
4. Work at home to wait for a craftsman
5. Start work late / end work late
6. Going to the doctor / dentist without taking annual leave
7. Do not wear makeup
8. Listen to radio / music / podcasts
9. Work from home to wait for a delivery rather than having to take annual leave
10. Watch catch-up TV on your lunch break
11. Special working hours for childcare reasons
12. Take an occasional extended lunch break
13. Sending professional emails outside of opening hours
14. Work from home in pajamas
15. Sort admin / personal invoices
16. Surfing the Internet / Social Media for Non-Business Purposes
17. Wear sneakers / sportswear to work
18. Online shopping
19. Have visible tattoos
20. Have a “pretend” background during video calls
21. Order takeaway from the office
22. Have multiple piercings
23. Wear shorts at work
24. Book vacations
25. Children / animals in the background during video calls
26. Work from another country
27. Working from bed
28. Send emojis to your boss
29. Getting a haircut without taking annual leave
30. Sending business emails from the bathroom

Emojis have become more common – with laughing faces, thumbs up, clapping, and even emojis rolling their eyes.

Mr. Walsh added: “For years the perception was that work could only be done from the office or work space.

“But with more of us working remotely, on a more permanent basis, we’ve shown that technology can revolutionize this old-fashioned view of work.

“Many Brits are feeling more relaxed about the new world of work, having adjusted well over the past 18 months.

“And as our research has shown, it has increased productivity and improved relationships, as very few want to go back to the old ways of full-time office work.”

Now we thought this year brought back big highlights in every way imaginable. We’ve seen it all, from the black streaks of Cristina Aguilera in the early 2000s to the two-tone bangs that frame the face. But thanks in large part to TikTok, emo and stage culture is making a comeback, as are horizontal highlights (aka raccoon tail hair), although thankfully the look is a little different this time around in 2021.

If you were on Tumblr in the golden age of stage culture (early 2000s), you would have come across the glorious world of two color clip in hair extensions. Usually black (because, of course, emo) and another lighter color, these gave a horizontal effect and were usually cut into the lower layers of hair or in wide bangs. With this decade underway kicking off with a hype for the “brutes of the 1920s” and a call to bring back the MySpace culture (there was even a petition), nostalgic trends in emo and stage culture from the early 2000s are sure to return. After Instagram went down on October 4, the return of MySpace seems more likely than ever. So start ranking your eight best friends and fire up your hair straightener. But luckily for us, it looks like horizontal highlights have taken a much more subtle renaissance.

Two-tone hair has circulated in various ways over the past couple of years, it has even been endorsed by Dua Lipa on the cover of her album Future Nostalgia. Now’s is coming back as a dip-dye for fall. On the sidelines of the trend, some people are getting more creative, opting for more voluminous highlights. Most often people compare the trend to the end of a raccoon tail, while the artist wig Tomihiro Kono compared it to Polish Viennese Ice Cream.

Fernanda Calfat / Getty Images Entertainment / Getty Images

The revival has already received designer approval, as Collina Strada’s SS22 runway show at New York Fashion Week featured a clip variation, as well as larger highlights. Off the track, colorful party clips are the perfect temporary fix. Wider blonde (or lighter brown) horizontal highlights are a more subtle everyday look for those excited to try out the IRL trend.

Raccoon tail hair has the added benefit of not having to deal with regrowth as highlights or weak spots grow like your hair. You can also go for the investments of your choice without worrying about following the usual hair rules, as this trend clearly bends to none. Who says highlights can’t also be diagonal? At this point, anything goes.

The creative team behind the “the Lord of the Rings”Hated movies Harvey Weinstein so much so that one of the costumes in the film was designed to be a dig at the Hollywood mogul, according to the actor Elijah wood.

Weinstein was one of the largest brokers in the industry before his rape conviction last year, and his production company Miramax owned the initial rights to the “Lord of the Rings” films.

Wood, who played Frodo Baggins, said the podcast “Armchair Expert” that Weinstein had imposed seemingly impossible conditions on filmmaker Peter Jackson for the films to be shot with another studio, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jackson succeeded nonetheless, forging a deal with New Line Cinema for what would become an iconic franchise on the big screen.

But he shot Weinstein with one of the orcs’ costumes.

Wood said co-star Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee, said in another podcast interview that he spotted the mask when he arrived on set.

“He had seen those orc masks. And one of the orc masks – and I remember it very well – was made to look like Harvey Weinstein like some kind of ‘fuck you’, “Wood said, according to THR, adding:” I think it’s OK to talk about it now, the guy is incarcerated. Fuck him.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison after his conviction. He is attractive worth but also faces more costs.
